Stream Through The Earth

Small wall hanging, 13x10in, made from repurposed fabrics collaged together to form an interpretation of the second photo, taken in north Iceland.

I have started making dorodango from soil and clay, and I have found it to be deeply grounding, forcing my mind to slow down and focus on the task at hand. I don't know if I will do anything with them, but the materials are free, the process is meditative, and it is helping me be more mindful when I go for walks as well, as it gives me more to notice around me, observing different soil qualities and characteristics

Current work in progress. Will let it sit for a bit before deciding if I'm done adding layers and am ready to trim and add a back. But I'm happy with how it's looking right now.

Repurposed fabrics include upholstery scraps, neck ties, tablecloths and scarves.
